Cricut Expression

Postby DingleDel » Tue May 01, 2018 11:23 am

A friend of mine has offered me a Cricut Expression Personal Cutting Machine, but I have never used anything like it before! It's an older model so I am not sure how easy it will be to get blades, mats etc.....I also don't know if I can only use cartridges with it or whether I can download directly...it states that it's a stand alone machine and doesn't NEED to be linked to a PC..but not sure whether it has the capability to.

Just need to get my car sorted so I can go and collect it! :wiggle: :wiggle: :wiggle:

Ooh how exciting.

I dusted down my silhouette and cut some fabric.

In think you can get free svg files for a cricut

I've got a cricut expression 2. You can go into cricut craft room and create stuff on a virtual mat then purchase the cutting files you have used. There is also a gypsy hand held device that you can link to any cartridges you have but it only lets you link each cartridge once so if you buy them second hand you might not be able to link it to your gypsy if you have one. I bought most of my cartridges second hand and they have worked fine in the machine. I don't have a gypsy.

I'm still using my original mat though I do have a new one I've used occasionally. I've replaced the blade a couple of times.

so have you used it yet Adele?

Does it cut fabric, everyone seems to be doing lots of different stuff now with these machines like putting stuff on glass, and t shirts, but have no idea how it all works!

Unfortunately I haven't had a car for the best part of last week and my friend travels backwards and forwards to work by bus. So it's still sitting in a cupboard at her workplace. I will try to pick it up as soon as possible next week so that I can play. X

Whoop whoop! Collected it yesterday and manged to try it out briefly. I think I will need to invest in a new mat but the cutting blade seems ok. It came with some sort of design studio (mouse mat, CD software etc) and 2 cartridges. Need to do a bit more reading up and download the software before I play again! :wiggle:
