Oats

Postby Carolyn » Sat Jun 22, 2013 12:09 pm

I am pretty sure I have some oats growing in the garden right by the birdbath, I thought it was my tradescanthia so did pull it up, but now it is 'out' it looks just like oats! with quite wide long leaves. Will have to take a picture

Have you been putting bird seed out? Possibly some seeds have been carried by birds or washed off in the bath?

As it is so close to the birdbath I am presuming that it has been deposited there by one of our feathered friends :)

We get sunflower seedlings coming up all the time. In our last garden the feeders were on a pole in a flower bed so we just left them to grow and they actually flowered!
