bird house with living roof

Postby Carolyn » Mon Aug 05, 2013 10:34 pm

I spotted an idea in a magazine and thought it was cute, found a tutorial not quite the same as I saw, as this one had an apex roof. I want to give it a go :)

Lovely! I saw a shed roof done in a similar way, really effective!

I want to do something like that on the top of our water butt, it has a nice inverted, shallow lid and I'd love some trailing plants to "soften the look."

they do get quite heavy so you would need to make sure that the lid wouldn't collapse - it sounds like a great idea.

We have been attempting to get some different birds into our garden again and have a bird house to hang that Amelia made at a school workshop. Unfortunately it doesn't look like these ones, she painted it bright red, white and blue! LOL Not the shabby chic, subtle look I was hoping for!
