Can you help me identify these please?

Postby DingleDel » Sat Apr 19, 2014 6:17 pm

I have just blogged some waffle about our day in the garden and have taken a few pics of some plants I am not sure of. Do you know what these are please?

I think this may be an astilbe????

I think the first 2 are right, but last might be penstemon. Have they never flowered

The last one does look like a fuschia as well I have decided - yours are a wee bit ahead of mine - I have some small leaves on the fuschia in my basket, but the peonies are well on and yes similar

The first 2 are right but I don't think the third is a fuchsia. The leaves look too narrow and pointy.

LOL, the third is probably a weed I have been nurturing for a year! :roflmao:

Thank you, I will try to look into the best positions for planting out the first two.

Ooh good call Carolyn. Could well be penstemmon. Having seen it on the pc instead of the phone, it doesn't look so fuschia-like

I haven't heard of the name penstemmon before but upon Googling it, they look very pretty. So many colours/varieties though, I shall just have to wait and see.

Thinking about it, I did have a plant with yellow flowers on last year, but I am not even sure it's the same plant!

Penstemons are pinks, purples and I think white. Don't think they come in yellow.

I'm not sure I can add much to identifying your plant (and I think this has already been sorted!), but was interested to hear you keep a blog. I just wondered if you could shed any light on where's the best place to start with this? I want to get one up and running for my stamping and other hobbies, but I feel completely clueless about where to start - there seem to be so many different options! Hope someone can help :)

Sorry TeeJ, only just seen this. Starting a blog is quite daunting but if I can do it, anyone can. I am sure there are links and advice on here. I will post later.

As for my mystery plant, it is in bud!!!! I am almost convinced it is the yellow flowering one that I remembered from last year. Still don't know the name of it but it is a large shrub with yellow, open wild rose-like flowers I think! You see them a lot in Council borders, schools, etc so they are hopefully low maintenance.

Does anyone know what I mean???? :daze:

Try this site Adele and see if you can recognise your plant. I think there are 10 pages to look at.
