Garden project 2015!

Postby DingleDel » Sun May 10, 2015 9:19 pm

As another Summer approaches, we have ventured into the garden once again. Mad ideas in our heads and the start of yet another project. This year is puppy proofing our patio!!!!

We have hardly stopped this weekend and now I feel my poor achy body is seizing up. Chris and Jack have gone to the Cinema so once Amelia is settled I have promised myself a nice hot bath with Epsom Salts and lavender oil!

We have made good progress but still have so much to do.

I have posted a few photos on my blog but I will probably be needing some ideas and gardening advice as we go along!

Yes Carolyn, it's South West facing so we get sun most of the day. As the patio is sunken and quite sheltered it is a bit of a sun trap.

I would love a small, cosy, relaxing area to sit out in whatever the weather, so I will need protection from sun and rain. have in mind, as we haven't that much patio left with the conservatory and extension! The small area I've shown is where I have in mind and we have put up the basic framework of a pergola over the weekend. Still got to make it sheltered and we are not sure exactly how we are going to do that yet!

I am lifting up the slate border and sinking pebbles into concrete...it was either that or lift and re-lay the patio again! :o

The original back kitchen wall was awful, so full of holes and pipes and splatters of paint from over the years. We sealed all the brickwork last year but it didn't actually make it look any better so over the weekend I took the bold step and painted an exterior "feature wall!" LOL :roflmao: Not sure how I feel about it yet as it isn't the colour I wanted but it does look much cleaner and brighter.

I have all these images in my mind of draped screens and fairy lights but I cannot see that happening in the real world. xx

Thank you Carolyn, your garden looks lovely. :envy:

Even now it's very difficult to do any larger projects in the house or garden as Amelia still demands so much time and attention and now we also have Bruce to fit into the equation. I am hoping that they can become great friends and be company for each other but at the moment we all need to learn the art of puppy care.

I am sure we will get there...................eventually.............we need to be content and grateful for what we have and after all, Rome wasn't built in a day!

I think you spend too much time looking at Pinterest Adele. I do the same. I have pictures of hidden rooms, ingenious storage, beautiful craft rooms and stunning gardens with a cottage garden feel and Mediterranean feel and swimming pool and outdoor fire place...... :wst

However what I will say in my defence is that lots of these pictures and ideas came before we finally settled on the house we bought. I don't know how the neighbours feel about me extending my ideas into their driveway. :roflmao:

No, didn't see it Carolyn. :-?

We have been here for 17 years now and at long last the garden is coming together. We are getting to a point where we are considering what plants we actually want in the garden and even considering getting rid of some too! It all takes time, energy and knowledge and I am struggling with all 3 of those at the moment! lol

My goodies arrived today, some outdoor cushions, a PVC tablecloth and some bunting! Cannot wait to put some finishing touches to my little outdoor area. :wiggle:
