Postby DingleDel » Sun Dec 22, 2013 12:51 pm

I have a small Brisket Joint for this evening, never cooked one before. Any advice on how to cook it please?

Slowly!
A simple way is to brown it in a little oil in a deep casserole or pan, add onions and maybe some root veg. Sprinkle some flour and mix it in until it has absorbed the juices then add water or stock. Cook really slowly on the hob if you have a diffuser, or in a low-medium oven. How long will depend on the size, but the longer you cook it the more tender it will become. I would say a couple of hours, and then you should be able to almost break it up with a fork.
You could leave out the flour bit and thicken up the gravy with Bisto at the end if you want.
Enjoy....

I went with Jamie's recipe, which is very similar. Thank you.

I only added onions and seasoning, popped in a casserole on 180. Will need to check timings though as it's only a small joint of meat!

Smelling lovely already! xx
