knitting on the plane

Postby LizG » Thu Sep 27, 2012 12:20 pm

Anyone know if you can take knitting or crochet through security at airports? We have to wait such a long time between check in and the flight that it would be an ideal time to do some knitting or crochet but am unsure if the knitting or crochet needles count as potential "weapons".

I did ask when I went with Thomson and they said no to knitting needles - but didn't ask about crochet. Quite ridiculous I think. You could just as easily spray deodorant in the face of someone and knock them over the head with a bottle of whisky if you are that way inclined and they are all available to purchase in the airports.

Nowadays you can take knitting in your hand luggage , as long as it's on the needles already .
As i spend so much time in airports nowadays it's a bliss.
Sewing and crafts fill my days not to mention my living room, bedroom and cupboards

Oh that's really useful to know. I hate flying and get quite anxious about it but knitting really helps keep my mind off it but I just assumed you wouldn't be allowed :)

If I knit I become so tense that I am sitting bolt upright in a very short time!!! ~It would be no good letting me knit on a plane. :)
