Nellies multi frame and stamp shopping :)

Postby Carolyn » Sat Dec 04, 2010 6:10 pm

I went out on Thursday to order a blind from a shop just aorund the corner to Stamp Addicts - so it seemed rude not to pop in.

I bought two new stamps as they had them at half price and also a Nellie Multi frame Oval one MFD013

Is it one I can emboss with as well - and how do I do it please

I don't know those ones ,Carolyn. Sorry. Perhaps they cut and emboss at the same time. Have you tried them yet?

I think Carole has some (Cazat)

Just use an embossing mat with it Carolyn. I did that with my big butterlfy one from MD. You then just have to cut round the outside if you also want it as an embossed die cut shape.

They work exactly the same as Spellbinders.

...I don't have any spellbinders....this is all new to me. I can see how they emboss rather than cut  Must open the packet!

Ahh I thought you had some.

The Nellie Snellen frames are al fastened together kind of thing. You need a craft knife to cut between them to separate them. Then in Cuttlebug you use the A plate, C plate and one B plate to cut. To emboss you use the A and 2 B's plus an embossing mat and 3 shims. Unless you get a 'shimless' embossing mat. Once Upon a Stamp sells them. I have both and can send you my old one if you want? It works fine with shims but I was lucky enough to be given one of the newer ones.

so where do I put the mat - why won't it cut it - sorry I am being thick? I have the mat that came with the CB - apart from that I know nothing - how much of a noob am I!

what the heck is a shimless embossing mat?....ooh never knew it was going to be so complicated

They are out of the packet now and came all separate...I have cut with them...

How you doing Carolyn :??: Net helped me out when I bought my 1st set sometime back  I now have 4 or 5 sets. I have a big shot so not sure I can help with plates etc. but see that Net has listed the info. I have been using a lot of the Nellies for the 20 Christmas Cards a friend has requested.
I have the oval set - I made this Christmas pud themed card and decided to have a go at threading some ribbon through the decorative edge.

Look forward to hearing how you are getting on

I watched the video and can see that it is magic that it doesn't cut :) But have not tried it - got a bit sidetracked with other things as well as chatting to my bro on skype

If you don't need it Net I would love a shimless mat :angel2:

lol

The mat I have spare is one where you need the shims Carolyn, which is basically 3 pieces of card the same size as the mat. Go on then I'll send the card as well if you want it.
