My ever increasing to do list

Postby Melis » Tue Oct 17, 2017 9:22 am

I was chatting to a friend yesterday and realised how much I have on my to do list.

Bags to go in the shoe box appeal boxes.
Lavender bags for presents.
Patchwork square for a charity quilt.
Sewing group project for a a Christmas wreath. We are needle felting Christmas roses but need to put a bit more planning in them to stop them looking like fried eggs.
Advent calendars.
Cut out Halloween items for a friend
Finish planning Christmas card projects for ladies group.

I think there are a few other things, but can't remember them.

I bought 2 panels about 20 years ago and thought I should actually make them up.

Yesterday we made polystyrene baubles decorations at the sewing group. (The Victorian inspired type where you cut into them and cover with fabric by tucking it into the cuts).

Turns out the reason my friend has 'fried egg' Christmas roses is because she didn't follow the instructions. They should turn out a lot better if you make separate petals.

They are not for this year. As I bought the panels originally for my children (now aged 29 and 24), I thought I would get started on them ready for when they have children. (Not happening any time soon). There is a good chance they will be finished by NEXT Christmas.

a few years then - although I think you should make it and give it to them this year...what does age matter :)

Made some needle felted flowers today. They didn't look like fried eggs but I can't say they look like Christmas roses!!

Got some roving, stabbed it hundreds of times until it was a bit petal shaped, then did it again until I had five petals. Then I felted them together. We added a yellow and green centre. So far I have 2 flowers and they look nothing alike.
