Had a go with these, slightly too long - but know what size to do them now. found a button is great as a 'stop' also

I have made them 1/2 inch shorter now and good fit for my sunglasses!

I like the idea of the button. I would never have thought of that. So what are the measurements? I might need to make a couple. I did make one last year just to slip a very small pair of sunglasses in but now I have washed it, it is only fit for a doll.

the outer i did 8 by 7.5 inches and the inner 8 by 10 inches.

so join the outer and inner then fold in half and join all the way around leaving bottom inside to stitch after - you need to leave a little gap for the drawstring, soon after the inside fabric. - finger crease the seams where you have left the tiny gap, then fiddle about so the rights sides out and the inside is showing along top by about 1 inch, stitch around very top and then stitch down enough to leave a channel

So is the area where the ribbon is actually the lining coming forward?

Yes , make lining too big, so it sticks about about an inch, so that is why it is bigger and why I needed to trim down outside from my normal 8 inches, as I normally tuck the inside in. You can make it the same both bits but I like the contrast.

Oh I've never thought to use a button. I have some of those cord stops and I something do the two strings so you pull them in opposite directions to close the bag.

Loving the fabric btw :)

buttons seem to be doing the job ok - plan to make a few of them now.
