I've just read two of Ann Widdecombe's:

Act of Treachery and Act of Peace

The first has mixed reviews on Amazon, from great, to dire. I enjoyed them. There's more development in the second.

I'm a fan of Sophie Kinsella, Carolyn - as you say, silly, but fun! Good for light reading to escape from reality for a while.
