Anyone watch this on BBC4 it was on last night - just caught up with the 70s on the iplayer - last night it was the 80s. They have put a family through living in the 70s each day moving a year on, with regard to tech equipment - anything from Freezers, to washing machines - to computers - great time reminiscing. The kids said the 70s were boring - as if!

Gosh .. it took me back The occassional drift back with music is nice too. Did the family really allow their house to be transfomed - looks pretty drasitc - how did the BBC achieve - I guess partictions etc.? My mother still has her original teasmade - though it not working How I remember the twin tub too - and isn't the mum's crochet hat/top fab. The 'this is dangerous and that etc. comments from the dad are interesting - obviously he is seeing it as a 'dad' can see how he thinks 'dangerous' 'deathtrap' from that perspective Carole

Just as well he didn't see the wiring I grew up with (and I'm still here!). No central heating and dad lit paraffin heaters in the bedroom for it to be warm to go to bed too.

they partitioned off rooms to make them smaller and also less rooms. In the 70s they turned off the central heating

I was very dissapointed when the chap got into his 4x4 when it snowed I remember the parafin heaters in the bedroom too Annmarie - later on we had calor gas fires to keep us warm but these were only used in the living room/hallway. Carole

I managed to watch the 80's tonight. Very interesting. Seeing the change in the family dynamics with the newly intrduced gadgets was very interesting. Mum seemed quite happy in the 70's as no distractions with gadgets, lots of family time/eating together. Mum much more laid back unlike dad who seems to worry about every so called 'death trap' but you can see that this time round that the dad/son are the happier ones and far less issues with safety - except where the C5 was concerned - but must say what a sport he is for driving it - and what about the fab. shell suit - is there no one that comes out in their neighbourhood - seems always deserted? As a family we did not own any of the gadgets featured but knew of them. I really enjoyed the music featured. Carole
