So has anyone got an e reader? I sat and watched the gadget show a few weeks back giving ratings on 3 machines and the amazon Kindle came out the best. Have to say it does appeal - except I tend to get books given/from charity shops/from the library - so buying the books 'new' would mean a lot more expense

My younger son has one and he thinks it is great. I was going to get one when they first came out but there were so few books available then so I didn't. i decided to wait. I will have a go with my son's first now I think .

I have an e-reader programme on my Palm but I still prefer reading a book.

There are a lot of free books out there on the net, without having to pay for them. Guttenberg project springs to mind http://www.gutenberg.org/catalog/

Not sure that books from elsewhere work on the Amazon one - but I maybe wrong. I must admit sitting at home I would use a book - I was thinking more for holidays and away from home.

It would be very handy for studying - I'm like an overloaded packhorse and that's before I start on books!
