So are you on your summer holidays yet? This is the perfect time to go collecting bits 'n' bobs to alter in some way. On the nice days you go collecting and on the rainy days you do the crafting. Get the kids involved too by going on long walks by river banks and collect nice smooth stones to paint. Or just in and around your local area - I found some empty snail shells in my garden just waiting to be painted and Harry found some stones for me to paint while he was geo-caching. I will keep this going through the summer holidays and it would be great to what wacky things you find to paint. You can load your creations onto the gallery (there is a separate "Time to Create" section - enter the keyword TTC005 and we will be able to see them HERE) or link from a hosting site or add your pictures to this topic. I have painted some snails, used flowers soft on one, some rub-ons on another and decoupatched one too. Crackle paint, glitter, gems and even a brad was used to decorate them. The stones have been painted and one is covered using the napkin technique. I glazed them all to protect them. It would be great to see your children's creations too. Have fun

A few years ago now I had a period when I was painting anything in the style of canal art. I painted some stones then as well. Good fun and as you say...addictive.

Can we alter anything? I have a project I hope to start very soon but I am waiting for Amelia to get back from her nanny & grandad's, I'd like it to be a "family effort!"

Wow. The stones and snails are truly beautiful Will have to show my eldest DD she will so love what you have created. Is this still open ? Will get my thinking cap on - when things slowed down a little maybe will take a walk in local park to see what inspires. The canal art sounds truly wonderful Kath. Something I admire indeed. Carole

Hi Carole - sorry I meant to reply to your post ages ago then forgot yes please join in Carole I had intended it to be a decorate something you find like snail shells, sea shells, stones, pine cones, conkers, ..... you know that sort of stuff but really anything will do. You could even use fruit (remember Calv's alcohol inked fruit and veg ) I will leave it entirely up to you.

Thanks ever so Jake. I am determined to have a go with something. Your work is just to beautiful for me not to have a go myself. I was only thinking of Calv and his 'alcohol inked' fruit - as in wondering how Calv is, not seen him about for a while. I will let you know how I get on and if I come up with something as spectacular as yours I will let you see a pic. Carole
