I'm not able to meet up or anything Christine (so the court order says  ) but if someone asked me what would be a good way to start, i'd say get busy looking at peoples scrap blogs.

There are some great basic scrapbookers out there, and there are the totaly stunning ones, but all are do-able when you look hard enough and be patient enough. I am addicted to the Norwegian blogs and style of scrapping, but when you look in detail at thier work, i guaruntee you could do the same if you spent enough time on a LO.

I am the same as you when it comes to colour matching. I'm getting a little better, but honesly, someone could give me matching papers....show me a completed project showing they match....and i STILL wouldn't get that they matched! :-?

I do what you do.....just pick which ones i like.

Theres no wrong or right way to scrap though, so whatever you do will be your own, no-one would say it's wrong.

I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice here, there are so many great scrappers here on the forum.

Calv.

I LOVE scrappin no expert but I do think that manufacturers take the hard work out of matching stuff up these days

Also if the photos are the wrong colours you could always make them black and white

Feel free to look at my blog - link in my siggie

SB LO's are here http://web.me.com/dougandsue/Site/Layouts.html

if you type in 'scrapbook page' into google and look at images you can get lots of ideas.

I tend to buy paper that I like and know that one day I will have the right photo for it. About 4 years ago when I started card making I bought a load of Anna Griffin papers and I am still using them today.

it helps to mat the photo on a colour that does match your paper and as for papers if you want a whole album to match it's easiest to buy a scrappaper pad rather then loose sheets

A good way to start is to find a piece of patterned paper that you like and then find a plain piece of paper or card in one of the colours from the paper so that they will blend together. If you try to find a photo that blends with your plain cardstock you should be able to begin. It becomes easier to match colours with practice.

I hope you don't mind but Stampin' Up!s Scrap kits are aimed at people like yourself just starting out and maybe not with alot of kit - you get several sheets of patterned paper (double sided) and textured cardstock plus some lovely mat look die cuts with sticky already on them - borders shapes and piccies and journalling bits. You can add some ribbons and some bits and bobs from your stash such as brads or buttons or chipboard and you are away. Each kit has 8 12x12 textured cardstock, 6 sheets of patterned paper in two designs and 6 sheets of the card diecut shapes etc. My fav is the Secret Garden one that has chocolate, Green and coral colours. The best thing is it is all already colour co-ordinated so you can sit and scrap a whole album all colour co-ordinated.

Have a look here www.stampinup.co.uk at the product catalogue. There are 4 kits on pages 72 & 73 and then another 3 more which are retiring later this year on page 93.

The kits are £15.50
postage is minimum £3.95 or 5%

Rachel
