Basically I make cakes
www.allofmycakes.blogspot.com I have a customer that wants a keepsake cake topper of herself and fiance.(IN CLAY)......I do not know where to start, which is the best clay to use, as I usually use sugar, and what to glue the bits with and best tools....and the best site to purchase. I would really really appreciate any and all of your advice.

Instead of clay would they consider you using Fimo? There are people on the forum who could advise you on this?

I think whatever you make for strict food hygiene you need to put it on a base so that it doesn't touch the cake.
Working with Fimo is like working with flower paste, and you can use it in the same way - rolling it and cutting etc. You can use coloured powders like flower paste. You buy it pre coloured - and mix colours together to make others rather than colour it yourself like paste.

Not sure how to make them, but i do know that as has already been pointed out, Fimo shouldn't touch the food.

Hi lee -Ann thanks for the lovely words. - fimo is what you need - it bakes at a low temp ( see the packet) If your modelling with your hands you should be the same i believe - HOWEVER - you cant use the same tools that you use for your cakes - even if you wash them its not recommended that you use it for both. I had a blender that i only used for fimo and also a pasta machine - strictly for fimo too . some people have a separate oven even if they bake alot.
Your cakes are just stunning lee - ann !
