To show a picture on the forum it can be hosted on your blog, a fotopic, photobucket, picasa or similar hosting site. Or you can add it by linking as an attachment...

so firstly if you want to use the gallery:
You will need to join the gallery before submitting pictures or comments to the gallery, it is not linked to the forum, although you can use the same details.

File Size
Make sure your pic is below this size: 200Kb, 750x750px

I suggest cards are good at around 400 pxs wide (portrait) and Scrapbook pages will need to be bigger around 600pxs is good and always add another pic for the journaling, Any bigger and they are difficult to view. It is always best to crop off all the ‘extra’ around the picture.

File Name
...You must choose a unique name of your photo, it will not like it if there has been one before - it doesn't matter where. You will get an error message at the top of your screen.

So I suggest you add the date in the file name eg carolyn_010506 then it will make it unique.

To Add Your Image
Log in click add

Then you will get a screen where you need to select your photo on your PC using the browse button.

The description will appear immediately below your picture and all the other bits will be in summary below. Check out some submitted photos first to see how they look.

The keywords will be used by the search, so add words of the things you have used. That way if someone wants to find something made with say staples, they can pop that in the search and hey presto it will come back!

Lastly you will need to select a category, click on the arrow at the edge of the box and it will give you the options.

You will have a little message towards the top of your screen to say you have submitted your photo

Hints and tips on using the gallery
Click on browse and you will see 3 options at the top:

Top rated
Most viewed
Last comments

You can click on any of them and they will give you that info - last comments is particularly useful

Click on search and just click on the search button, this will give you all the pictures with the most recently added ones first.

Did you know you can search by submitter, either via the search button or by clicking through the members.

take this link and replace yourgalleryname wit your own gallery name and remove the space after the url= and this will link to your pics.

[url=http://www.craftsbycarolyn2.co.uk/zenith/search.php?t=&q=&a=yourgalleryname&strength=1&nr=200&st=0&upto=12&p=1]MyGallery[/url]

Comments without a name will be deleted.

To add your image to a thread

Click on the photo and put your mouse over the direct path link (towards the bottom of the page) - right click and select copy shortcut not just copy - it needs to have % where there are spaces.

This is where the file path is - but you need to make it into a shortcut, so in IE it is right click and copy shortcut

Image

OR you can click on the properties of the small image or the original image, but not the medium image. and copy and paste that.

Paste this address on the forum between Img in your post - see the screen shot below.

So if you have already added your picture elsewhere on the internet......

To link any other image - you must get the properties of the image by right clicking the mouse whilst you are hovering over the image. Highlight - all the way to the end, it should end with a .jpg or .gif - and then click copy and then paste into the post on the forum. Highlight it and then click the img tag as shown below:

Always scroll on the properties box right to the end to get the link

You can link from a fotopic image... you have to log into your fotopic account and edit the collection your image is in. Then click on the thumbnail of the image that you want to link, this brings up a dialogue box, click on the info tab at the far right and this gives you the address for direct linking.

Hope this helps

This was posted elsewhere - so I thought I would add it to this thread:

You can do something amazing here...you can show the little image but when people click on it they can see the big image. You will need both of the addresses and then copy this and replace the bold writing with each of the addresses:

[url=Put the big image page address here starting with the HTTP][img]Put%20your%20small%20image%20property%20address%20here%20starting%20with%20the%20HTTP[/img][/url]
Make sure there are no spaces, and just add to your post. Don't forget to remind people that they can click through.

This should work with blogs; fotopic sites etc.

Here is an example:
Image

click on it!

Don't forget you can preview it before you submit to make sure it is working. BUT submit after you have previewed

To link a photo from Blogger - hover your mouse over the picture and then right click the mouse - then select properties.

Now you should see the img source - it will be the one with .jpg on the end. You need to take your mouse and then highlight the whole of this address, from HTTP to .jpg - it sometimes wraps around in the little box - but it will be all there. Whilst it is highlighted right click the mouse and choose copy.

You then need to paste this in your post and select the img tags as described in a previous post.

You can always go back and edit your posts and change them...and to test you can see your post in preview first.
