ie, would you say it was normal to have to stamp standing up I think you should be able to use a stamp sitting down and that if i have to stand up and swing on a stamp to get it to work then it was a pants quality, what would you say

Depends on the size for me - if it's a big stamp then I'll often stand up to make sure I can get even downward pressure over the whole area. I wouldn't be putting loads of pressure on though so if you're having to swing on it then yes, it sounds like the quality might be iffy!

I regularly stand up and lean on it, mainly because of my hands - it's the only way I can get even pressure on large ones, but I don't have to lean THAT hard

I like stamping when standing but on a slightly lower table so I can see what I am doing more than anything, but if it is a large stamp then you may need to stand to wield it!!
If the image is not crisp it may lso be the paper ink combo - ie re ink ink pad or choose a less absorbent paper???

I vary - but often do it sitting at a desk, if the stamp is bigger it often helps to stand - for placement and pressure!

I usually stamp standing up , in fact I do nearly all my crafting standing up , whenever I try and sit down I'm up like a jojo again to get something else

I stamp standing up as well. I just find it easier to see where I want to place the stamp.

I can only stamp sitting down (can't stand at all) and I often don't get brilliant results because I can't get enough pressure on the stamp. Sometimes putting something underneath with a little bit of give in it (like a foam mouse mat) can help . I also find that placing things squarely is quite tricky as it is difficult to get directly above the image. I have also been known to put a large book on my knee and use that to stamp on but it can be difficult to get even pressure. If I still don't get great results then I put the inked stamp upside down on the table and place the card over it and then press down with either fingers or an acrylic block.

LOL! I also stamp standing up! weird as you shouldn't have to , but I find it easier , also I can see where I am stamping better . If you are having to rock and roll the stamp ( hope it isn't one of mine ) , then it may be the cushioning under it has shrunk or been cut badly (this happens on wood mounted stamps), and the corners of the stamp will not print out, so you have to rock it to make sure it all prints. I have an extremely large jean pocket stamp which I rarely use as I have to stand on it to stamp it!! Loved the design when I bought it, but a mission to ink and stamp! Must get it out and try it again!

It isn't one of your easy to use stamps Jennie It just that recently i bought quite a few stamps from a certain place and 2 of which i had to return because they wouldn't work, well one i didn't even try because it had a hole in it to start with but the other one when you stamped it missed a bit in the middle and i tried everything to get it to work but it missed the same bit every time, swinging on it was my last resort but that did nearly work in the end but i expect my 2 girls to be able to use my stamps (with permission only ) and as they are no where near my hefty weight as most people aren't then most of the country wouldn't have been able to use them. I sent them back and got replacements, but on the bottom of a slip of paper it said, i always stand up to stamp. I just thought it seemed a bit narky. Not everyone can stand up to stamp so maybe it should say on the packaging that you need to stand to use their stamps. Maybe im just being sensitive.

I have bought quite a few sheets of unmounted stamps from stamp man and only once have I not been able to stamp with one of their images. I thought it was just me not being able to put enough pressure on it so I took it to my local craft shop and got the crafters there to try, and they too could not stamp with it. I asked the stamp man about it and they gave me a replacement and said that every now and then there can be defects in the manufacturing of rubber stamps where there may be a bubble in the rubber or they are not totally level. They were extremely good about it and not once did they say that you should have to stand to stamp so NO you are not being too sensitive about it - it is the company you got the stamp from who not being very understanding - not everyone can stand and I would have been annoyed if they said that to me.

Definitely Narky - I would be tempted to write next to it - standing up to stamp is fine BUT standing ON the stamp is a bit extreme.
Yeah - it sounds like they were not well mounted and the foam had perished a bit or wasn't up to the job.
Jackie - have you tried a stamp positioner for accuracy of stamping? (SU have one called a stampamajig) It can help particularly for words or two step stamping.
I think something people are afraid of is putting a stamp down, letting go then applying pressure - done carefully this is fine (ie making sure the stamp or paper doesn't move) and can give a better impression. Nothink beats a bit of cusioning either on the stamps or underneath - wad of paper (I always used to use an old telephone directory before I went all Stampin' Up!-aholic)

Especially when lining up repeat patterns or letters that join up or on acetate where the image must be directly above the image below. oh dear that sounds a bit garbled

I mostly stand to help me get more pressure on it, especially if it's a big stamp, can also place it better from above!
