I bought a watch years ago that had strap that tightened with a knot with two ends that you pulled and it tightened, just don't know how to explain it but if anyone knows what I mean - do they know how to do it!

A bit like this:

It is probably like the fastening for a dolly bag..............you have one string running one way and the other one running the other way. Sorry...... I don't know how to explain it.When you pull both strings the object sort of ruffles up. The strings need to be secured at opposite ends.
Does that make ANY SENSE AT ALL? :roflmao:

I know what you mean Kath - I think it is on a similar theme - but it has a special knot so that it stays tight

Does this help Carolyn?

I don't know what the proper name for the knot is but I had several bracelets with that type of fastening until last year when I took them apart to get the beads off (they were another car boot bargain which I bought because I wanted the beads).
This site gives information about all sorts of knots and it might be on there.

That is the kind of thing Linda - I did start looking around last night but couldn't think what to search!

If anyone know any other types out there, always keen to see more :)

This is a kind of hippy knot I have on some of my necklaces that might be of some help to a few of you.
